I am a Master’s student in the Applied Nematology lab lead by Dr. Marisol Quintanilla. My research project will focus on non-fumigant control of the root lesion nematode, Pratylenchus penetrans, in potato systems. My goal from this work, is to find a soil additive that will reduce root lesion nematode populations while still maintaining soil health and potato yield. Previously, I have worked in Dr. Rufus Isaacs’s lab on cultural controls of spotted wing Drosophila in blueberries and raspberries. The core of my interests lie in integrated pest management and I hope to work with growers in the future to maximize their pest management strategies.
