New Student Orientation Financial Aid Student Information System

A badge for the College of Agriculture and Natural ResourcesAs you prepare for your first year at MSU, here's a checklist of important items to complete before the fall semester begins.

Before New Student Orientation

  1. Activate your MSU NetID and email.
  2. Apply for campus housing with your NetID and password.
  3. Sign up for New Student Orientation (NSO).
  4. Send final transcripts (high school & college-level transcripts) for incoming first-year students and transfer students.
  5. If you self-reported ACT/SAT scores: Have your testing agency submit your official score(s).
  6. Submit your Student Immunization Self-Report form.
  7. Upload your photo for your MSU Student ID Card.
  8. Optional: Apply for Financial Aid.

Before Meeting Your Academic Advisor through NSOSun-flare-students-walking-crosswalk-3by2

  1. Complete the Math Placement Exam.
  2. If you are continuing a foreign language, complete the MSU Foreign Language Placement Test.

After NSO

  1. If coming in with any credits: Review the college-level credits transferred for freshmen advanced credits and transfer student credits.
  2. Check your MSU email regularly (Spartan Mail).
  3. Review health insurance requirements and the available MSU Student Health Insurance Plan.
  4. Optional: Manager parent/guardian account access through the Student Information System.

Other Considerations

  1. Explore MSU student resources.
  2. Explore the list of MSU Registered Student Organizations.
  3. Register with the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities if needed.
  4. Plan to attend the College Colloquium with the CANR before fall semester classes start.
