2013 Gliozzo Clerical-Technical Recognition Award winner named

The 2013 Gliozzo Clerical-Technical Recognition Award winner is Barbara Sweeney.

Barbara Sweeney, Office Assistant III, in the Department of Animal Science, is the recipient of the 2013 Gliozzo Clerical-Technical Recognition Award. The award is presented annually to a clerical-technical support staff member selected from nominations received by the CT Recognition Award Selection Committee. The award is sponsored by the Thomas and Concettina Gliozzo Endowment Fund to recognize outstanding clerical-technical employees.

Award winners demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Respect of their peers and continuous diligence in attending to their daily responsibilities;
  • Concern for students, faculty, staff, and colleagues in their respective units, particularly (but not limited to) those assisting overseas U.S. students and faculty, international students, international faculty, etc.
  •  Extraordinary and significant contributions to the community or public service.
  •  Innovative thinking in facilitating unit tasks and responsibilities.

Charles Gliozzo, is director emeritus of MSU's Study Abroad program and started this award to honor his parents, Thomas and Concettina Gliozzo, immigrants who became U.S. citizens and recognized the importance of education.
