CANR Academic Advisor Award

Lesley Schumacher has been the undergraduate academic advisor in the Department of Forestry since February 2015.

Lesley Schumacher has been the undergraduate academic advisor in the Department of Forestry since February 2015. She is responsible for academic orientation, schedule planning, recruitment, commencement, internship coordination, career information and the Forests Forever Scholars Program.

She is the 2016 CANR Academic Advisor of the Year.

 

Lesley also administers an online course, Forestry 101, and acts as advisor to the MSU Forestry Club. She draws on her knowledge of maple syrup production to help the students in their own maple syrup endeavors. She represents the department at events such as Darwin Discovery Day and the MSU Science Festival. Lesley earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in entomology from Michigan State University.

 

The Academic Advisor Award recognizes the undergraduate academic advisor who regularly goes above and beyond for students in his or her department. Recipients are nominated by and voted on by students.
