MSU faculty to present at confernce in Dublin

Faculty members from the MSU School of Planning, Design and Construction’s (SPDC) Urban and Regional Planning Program will take their work across the Atlantic Ocean.

Faculty members from the Michigan State University School of Planning, Design and Construction’s (SPDC) Urban and Regional Planning Program will take their work across the Atlantic Ocean for the Planning for Resilient Cities and Regions Conference on Monday, July 15, 2013, in Dublin, Ireland.

The theme of the Conference is adaptability in the face of socio-political crisis and climate change in order to maintain urban and rural viability and improve the quality of life of citizens. The four-day conference beginning on July 15 will take place at University College in Dublin. 

Dr. Wayne Beyea and Dr. Rex LaMore will jointly present in a session entitled: "Sustainable Corridor Design Portfolio: Mid-Michigan, USA Program for Great Sustainability." 

Dr. LaMore, also from the MSU Center for Community and Economic Development, will co-present his recently released abandonment report, Planning Policies and Regulations that Can Reduce the Practice of Private Property Abandonment in the United States: The Case for Michigan, with Michelle LeBlanc, an SPDC student.

Dr. Zenia Kotval will participate in two panels: 1) Impact Assessment of Practicum Communities in the Innovative Tools for Planning Education session; and 2) Thoughts and Observations of the Growth of Urban Militarism: Snapshots of the Boston (USA) and Berlin (Germany) Experience. 

Dr. Patricia Machemer will also participate on the impact assessment panel along with Dr. Kotval.
