Green Bioproducts Student Research Assistant Positions

Position description: 

The Department of Forestry at Michigan State University, in collaboration with multiple industry partners, is seeking two highly motivated Student Research Assistants for Spring and Summer of 2017 to assist with multiple projects on developing biobased adhesives, coatings and foams. The positions will be key assistants to the projects in biopolymer characterization, formulation and performance evaluation of prepared engineered wood products. The student assistants will be supervised by Dr. Mojgan Nejad and will be responsible for performing all lab and field works as necessary. Opportunity will exist for highly motivated personnel to pursue mentored independent research related to the overall project goals.

Qualifications: 

The successful applicants will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  1. Coursework in polymer chemistry, organic chemistry or chemical engineering
  2. Strong organization and communication skills
  3. Previous lab experience
  4. Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  5. Proven commitment to completing work with a high level of initiative, skill and professionalism.
