MSU Urban and Regional Planning Student Association Fall & Spring activity

The MSU Urban & Regional Planning Student Association (URPSA) was active again during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters.

The MSU Urban & Regional Planning Student Association (URPSA) was active again during the Fall 2013. In the beginning of the year, they focused on new member recruitment, and brought in several new faces from the incoming freshman class. Their main event was attending the Michigan Planning Association’s student conference in Kalamazoo, MI, in October, where they were represented by about a dozen of URPSA members and URP professors. They organized several social activities, most notably a hayride that was a huge success, and a social tour of East Lansing’s eateries.

In December, the executive board overturned almost completely, as most of the current members will be graduating in May 2014. They will, however, remain a presence behind the scenes to offer the new group guidance and advice as they bring the organization into the New Year.

Spring is the busier of the two terms, culminating in URPSA organizing the MSU student attendance at the American Planning Association’s National Conference in Atlanta, at the end of April. Another highlight will be the Student Michigan Association of Planning Conference, which Eastern Michigan University will host this year in February.

Again, URPSA will help students who wish to attend and participate get organized. The School of Planning Design and Construction Leadership day is also marked on the calendar for this Spring. This event awards scholarship prizes to completed research projects by SPDC students. Specific event dates and times will be announced as they approach and plans are finalized.
