  • Abigail Lynch, doctoral student, has been honored with the Dr. Howard A. Tanner Fisheries Excellence Fellowship for 2013-14. The award recognizes a student who is committed to fisheries research related to the Great Lakes, connecting waterway or tributary stream research.
  • Kelsey Schlee, master’s student, has received the Schrems Scholarship and will use it to investigate the effects of climate change on brook trout for her thesis work.
  • Joe Nohner, doctoral student, received an American Institute of Fishery Research Biologists (AIFRB) Clark Hubbs Research Assistance Award for excellence in graduate-level research.
  • Wu Yang, doctoral student, received the CHANS Fellowship at ESA Annual Meeting.
  • Abigail Lynch, doctoral student, received the CHANS Fellowship at ESA Annual Meeting.
  • Neil Carter, doctoral student, received the NASA-MSU Professional Enhancement Award.
  • Marissa Hammond, master's student, received a Fenske Fellowship Award. The award was made possible by a generous contribution from the Great Lakes Fishery Commission.

(In recognition of “significant and lasting impact on the advancement of international scholarship, teaching, and public service”).

  • Jianguo “Jack” Liu was honored with the Distinguished Faculty Award, MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Alumni Association, (In recognition of “faculty who have brought distinction to the college through teaching, extension or research, and have provided leadership that has helped students, faculty or citizens to reach their potential for excellence”).
  • Guangming He, doctoral student, received the NASA-MSU Professional Enhancement Award.
